Although a lot of progress has been made, still only 5% of women who enter college graduate with degrees in engineering. We at the Dallas Society of Women Engineers, strongly believe that more than any particular activity, more than any specific words of wisdom – the most important thing we can do for young women is put them face to face with a successful technical woman who can look them in the eye and say, “If I can do it, so can you.”
Dallas Society of Women Engineers in partnership with the Society of Women Engineers Region C Conference hosted by Southern Methodist University Society of Women Engineers is launching the Design Your World – STEM Career Conference for high school students to be held Saturday, February 2nd 2013! The Career Conference follows the example set by the 2012 hosts of the Society of Women Engineers Region C Conference, Texas Tech University. We hope to inspire high school young women during the STEM Conference with the following activities:
- Work through an interactive STEM activity
- Learn about the engineering programs at the Lyle School of Engineering at Southern Methodist University
- Participate in an interactive networking coaching session
- Engage with over 300 college students and professionals using networking skills
- Choose from over 16 sessions relating to various careers in engineering
